About Sense Shift Advisory

An independent read on organisational load bearing capacity.

Sense Shift is a coined term drawn from tessella, the small tile from which a mosaic is assembled, and it describes exactly how the firm works, which is by assembling small pieces of evidence into a single view that can be defended at a board and challenged by an auditor.

Sense Shift is tied to no systems integrator or delivery vendor and takes no position in the decision to spend capital, and the fee for the read is fixed, agreed before the work starts and paid in full whichever of the three verdicts it produces. Where Sense Shift also holds a Sustainment Engagement, that fee is fixed in the same bid before any finding exists, and the interest is disclosed on the face of the read. Sense Shift does not bid for build, integration or remediation work, and does not report on its own delivery as assurance.

About Sense Shift Advisory

A senseshift is the single tile a mosaic is made from.

The tile is the piece. MOSAIC is the picture. We read the individual pieces an organisation actually rests on, then say what has to be true before the next commitment is made.

What the firm does

Before an organisation releases the next stage of funding into a major programme, we run an independent read on whether its people can carry it. We produce one document: a verdict, and one condition that must be demonstrably true before the money moves.

The fee for the read is fixed and paid in full whichever verdict it produces, and we deliver MOSAIC when a client asks us to. A hold creates more work, not less, because the named conditions have to be closed before the money can move.

Purpose

Large programmes rarely fail because the technology was wrong. They fail because nobody measured whether the organisation could carry the change at the moment the money was committed. We perform that measurement. We test load-bearing strength across culture, structure, behaviour and leadership alignment, then state in writing whether the next commitment is viable.

Vision

A market in which no board releases capital into a major transformation without an independent read on whether its people can carry it. The way no board signs off accounts without an audit.

Mission

To bring evidence to a decision still made on optimism. We measure the cultural, structural and behavioural strength of an organisation, and state explicitly, in writing, whether the next commitment is viable.

Values, written as rules we can be held to

Why this matters to boards

You are approving a number that rests on an assumption nobody tested.

The assumption is invisible

Every business case for a major programme contains one line about whether people will absorb the change. In twenty five cases out of twenty five, that line carried no evidence behind it.

Your existing assurance does not cover it

Programme assurance and gateway reviews check whether the programme is being run well. They do not check whether your organisation can absorb what it produces.

By the time it shows, the money is gone

Absorption failure does not appear in a status report. It appears in a write off, an auditor's opinion, or a system that still does not work eight years later.

Why now

Three things changed. The assurance market did not.

74% to 43%Employees willing to change work behaviours to support organisational change, 2016 against 2022. By April 2025, 79 percent reported low trust in change.
42%Increase in abandonment of AI initiatives in a single year, between 2024 and 2025. Roughly 80 percent of AI projects fail outright.
UnchangedNothing in the assurance market has moved to match either. The same reviews check the same things they checked twenty years ago.

Why Sense Shift exists

This section is being written.

A firm that asks organisations to be honest about what they have not yet built should be equally honest about itself. The founder story, the transformations behind MOSAIC and the reason it was built rather than borrowed from an existing method will appear here, and not before it is written properly.
